Older Men Wage War, Younger Men Fight Them?

Is it safe to assume that when a country is still young and full of energy, it prefers to take more risks and expand? Is it safe to assume that when a country is old, it prefers to play it safe? What would make a country young? In my opinion, a country is young when it got a huge amount of people that are between the age of 12 to 27. Why? These young people can and will be able to lead their country in the direction that they want since the older generations have to pass their torches eventually. Furthermore, a young country got enough young soldiers to wage a war! This will not be that important when a country decides to employ more AI robots and automation in a war, but at the presence, human soldiers are still being mainly a deployable asset for any combat situation. Human soldiers are still driving and flying war machines and drones.

A small country with a small population and not enough economic power and technological might cannot be a threat to bigger countries even though such a small country may have a huge population of young people. It would be a different story for a huge country with a huge population size because such a country can deploy young, energetic human resources to grow and expand a country’s multifacet powers. It’s even more dangerous when such a country got a really large, energetic, young population. Why? Assuming we’re not going to use automation anytime soon, and so if I’m running such a country I would think about capitalizing the power of a huge young population to grow and expand my country. For an example, I wouldn’t be so timid in launching a war against a hostile country.

I have a feeling that even when automation gets to be in the driver seat, an unrest young population of whatever country could still drive their country into a more risky proposition than otherwise. After all, logically if they’re not taking risks when they’re young, what would make them excited when they’re old? If my theory is correct, I wonder could we see a lot more wars and deaths if the world’s population is full of young people? Of course, I could be wrong in a way because older people do take risks too! What if a small group of older people can make and drive the agenda that make use of the aggressiveness features of the young population? Nonetheless, I still think the huge population of young people still is an important element in the equation for taking risks. Without the huge, energetic young population, nothing will happen even if the small group of old people wants to wage a war!

Is China Leading In Building An AI Driven Future With 5G?

5G will be the thing of the coming years. If I’m understanding what is really going on, 5G can actually allow the plethora of devices to communicate with each other effortlessly. A quick search on Google yields that 5G is 20 times faster than 4G. Whether this is true or not, one thing is true is that devices can speak to each other way faster than before. This opens up more innovation and infrastructure demands.

The video above shows that China is heading in the direction where more machines will replace humans in labor-intensive jobs. The day when we need an extra pair of human hands may be over sooner than later because smarter machines with AI capability can actually think for themselves and carry themselves in jobs effortlessly. Nonetheless, AI machines without 5G will be like a pony just starts learning how to walk.

5G will allow AI machines to transfer data fast and constantly so that things can speed up even more for decision making, planning, communication and so much more. I think with 5G, self-driving car technology is much more believable since you can have many self-driving cars detect each other easier at once with reliable faster 5G data transfer. Furthermore, smart highways and roads are going to get better and more fitting for self-driving cars because 5G will allow faster communication between the cars and the traffic infrastructures.

If you’re guessing I don’t know what I’m talking about, you may be right. After all, 5G is so new and I haven’t seen it firsthand or use it in real life. Nonetheless, according to the information I could Google, 5G is 20 times faster than 4G. Right now I’m using 4G on my smartphone but I think 4G is already quite fast. I can imagine how crazier it could get if I got 5G.

A day ago I briefly encountered an article which described how 5G could destroy the need for the cloud. Then I briefly read over the article’s comments that displeased how the article’s author was too lacking of knowledge since the commenters didn’t see how 5G could destroy the cloud since the cloud is about centralization of data storage.

Personally though, I don’t see how centralizing storage like the cloud could go away since data redundancy is always a priority, especially in the age of AI which is driven by data. Of course, all bets are off when AI becomes self-conscious since such AI needs no human data to drive its own logic. Until then, the cloud stays important.

I also think that 5G could allow the decentralization of networks to become a thing too! How come? Local devices and storages will be able to talk faster to any other storage and device across the world — destroying the needs of having to plan and engineer a network that is catering to the importance of distance. Although we already in the age of information where distance isn’t as relevant as the 19th century for communication, but 5G may make distance even more irrelevant when it comes to data communication.

Basically, instead of waiting for minutes for a movie to be downloaded onto your device, you may only have to wait for a few seconds to have your movie when you use the 5G network. 5G data can cross secure communication channel much faster and more reliable since faster data transfer allows faster data integrity check and whatnot. Perhaps, we could see shopping, banking, and other important financial related activities across the world on the world wide web to be more reliable and faster — better experience overall!

In summary, I think 5G will be awesome! I would love to see not only cellular network but also home network to be able to transfer speed that is as fast as 5G or better. This way, everything will be on the same pace and everyone will be using faster Internet speed. What’s not to like when you can get a whole 4K movie to be downloaded in a few seconds, right?

Opinion: Can Sears Be Revived After Eddie Lampert Won Auction Bid, Saving Sears From Liquidation?

Can Sears be revived after Chairman Eddie Lampert won $5.2 billion auction bid to save Sears from liquidation?

When thinking of Sears I got nothing to be excited about! On the top of my head, I don’t even know what I care to want to buy at Sears. Whenever I need new clothes I think about stores like Kohls. Whenever I need new gadgets I think about stores like Amazon. Sometimes, Best Buy and Micro Center make to the top of my head for buying computer related items. Video gaming stuff I would just usually get from an online store like Valve’s Steam. Something needs to be improved for the home, I usually go to Home Depot. I usually go to Home Depot or Best Buy for big items such as the refrigerator. If I need everyday cheap, items I just go to Walmart. I still don’t see what I would need so much that I would rush to Sears to get it.

I think Sears will have a very tough uphill battle even it got itself out of liquidation. In order for Sears to be relevant, I think Sears got very few options. The first option is to find out what makes Sears unique in today competitive online/offline retailers such as Amazon and Walmart. If Sears cannot compete against Best Buy, Amazon, and so forth, then I think Sears needs to go with the second option which is to cater to luxury stuff only. Nonetheless, this would be like completely changing the business model of Sears inside-out. This would mean Sears would not even try to be competitive against brands like Amazon and Best Buy. Instead, Sears would just cater to the rich.

Let’s fantasize how Sears would just cater to the rich would be like OK? Let’s imagine instead of selling a normal refrigerator Sears now sells a gold plated refrigerator. This gold plated refrigerator is one of a kind since very few of them were made. The price is around $25,000. The refrigerator is not only gold plated, but it is also a tech hub center for the kitchen where the large glassy part of the refrigerator door could go translucent so you can interact with it like a smart TV or a computer. It also got a smart AI assistant to help stock up the refrigerator when something is about to run out. In this scenario, normal people wouldn’t buy this refrigerator since it’s too expensive and luxurious. Wealthy people though, they could buy this refrigerator without blinking twice.

If Sears targets the rich, then its business model would be completely different than before! The stuff Sears needs to carry in the store are going to be totally different than before. Furthermore, when targeting the rich Sears may not even need to care about being competitive against other players at all. How come? I think buying luxurious stuff is an experience! A few clicks of the mouse through online stores won’t get you the experience! Instead, I can see rich people would drive their supercar or Rolls Royce to Sears, get greeted by super friendly and helpful staff — feeling like a king when buying something — and feeling like a king when leaving Sears store afterward. Such an experience you would never get from online stores or from the stores that cater to the middle-income class. Sears can go this route to stay profitable even though Sears won’t be competitive against players such as Amazon.

Of course, there is always a third route which is to use the old model but providing better customer service. Nonetheless, I don’t see how Sears can stay competitive and relevant when people don’t have the need to go to Sears. Sears could learn from Kohls even though Kohls is just a retailer for clothing. Why? I think Kohls is really good at attracting me to buy clothes from its online store! Kohls got discount programs such as Kohls Cash, and these programs somehow encourage me to spend more. Although Kohls doesn’t provide free shipping unless you buy more than $75 worth of items (if I’m remembering this correctly), but this somehow encourages me to spend more than $75. Kohls always announces a new clearance sale, and so it’s like Christmas all over again. If Sears can learn how to give out discount like Kohls does, I think Sears can begin to become relevant in no time. Nonetheless, Sears must carry the stuff that when giving out discounts it does make sense for people to care to buy. Yep, even on discount, unwanted stuff won’t get sold.

With Night Light Shines Through (Poem by Vinh Nguyen)

Just another poem I’d written thus far. Enjoy!

With night light pierces through,
with light, night covets for an expanse,
the contradiction may ensue,
night light fight, for the love of filling an expanse.

Without night, light is through,
without light, night wishes not to expand,
the contradiction may ensue,
lovers they may be, they fight each other for the expanse.

In the darkness, light inspires the fools,
in the light, darkness finds common sense,
thus in time, one must seek out the light to strike down the fools,
one must also swim in the darkness to quench the thirsty senses.
