BandLab Releases the New Cakewalk Sonar Platinum Now Known As Cakewalk by BandLab For FREE!

So, I was using Cakewalk Sonar Platinum Digital Audio Workstation for past couple years, but then Gibson killed this DAW product line.  Many people were mad since they too had used Sonar for a long long time.  I was agitated by the news, and so I went online to look for the alternative to Sonar Platinum.  There are many alternatives to Cakewalk Sonar Platinum, but the cheapest professional version of whatever out there is still around $60 or so.  I thought I have to spend more money for a DAW since Gibson killed Cakewalk Sonar.  Luckily, BandLab, a Singapore company, decided to buy off Cakewalk Sonar product line so they could continue to build and support the awesome DAW.  I was patient in waiting for BandLab to release the update for Cakewalk Sonar, and my waiting is now paying off big time!

For couple days already but I just got the memo, BandLab had just released the early access version of Cakewalk by BandLab.  Basically, Cakewalk by BandLab is now the new name for what used to be Cakewalk Sonar Platinum.  Not only BandLab had released the early access version of Cakewalk, BandLab announced that Cakewalk by BandLab is now FREE for everyone!  Yep, you heard it right!  Anybody can now freely download a full top of the line version of Cakewalk DAW that used to cost a huge amount of money!  This means you get to save a huge amount of money from not spending any money on DAW and use this saved money for something else that could help you improve the quality of your mixes.

I think BandLab will change the music industry in regards to DAW specifically!  How?  As of now, I don’t see any professional DAW out there that is completely FREE.  Yet, BandLab released Cakewalk as a FREE DAW.  By the way, Cakewalk is a very professional DAW, and it is now FREE!  Imagine that!  So, I think other DAWs out there will have to either drop the prices or come out with better features somehow to make their DAWs unique just so they could compete against Cakewalk by BandLab.  Cakewalk users don’t have to be desperate now since BandLab is going to improve Cakewalk even more!  Basically, if Cakewalk gets smarter such as getting AI features and such, I think other DAWs will have a hard time in competing against Cakewalk by BandLab.

I found a YouTube video which addresses the announcement of the new Cakewalk by BandLab DAW.  You can watch it right after the break!

Update!

I just installed the early access version of Cakewalk by BandLab, and I was surprised that it recognized the settings of Cakewalk Sonar Platinum.  It allowed me to import the customized settings that I had with Cakewalk Sonar Platinum, and so I didn’t have to mess around with the settings of Cakewalk by BandLab!  It was a quick installed and I got to play with the new Cakewalk again!  Oh, I did have to add the locations of VSTs and rescan the VSTs again!  Nonetheless, everything is now working so smooth!
