Apple is well known for its aggressiveness in protecting its trademark and patents, but this time around it’s Apple being sued for infringing on ten patents of Nokia. The infringed pattents involved with GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards. It’s not clear that Apple is refused to pay for the licenses on Nokia’s innovation or Nokia is demanding for more money from Apple for the uses of the patents. It’s clear though that Nokia has successfully licensed its patents to 40 other leading mobile companies. The litigations bring forward by Nokia may have real negative effects and uncomfortable consequences for iPhone. Source.
