Xbox Music Service Will Attract People To Windows 8 Ecosystem Like Bees To Honey Kind Of Thing

Even before Microsoft gets a chance to really know that if their strategy of making Windows ecosystem evermore coherent would amount to anything (i.e., making Windows 8 the operating system for all upcoming devices such as tablets, smartphones, computers, etc…), Microsoft decides to test the worthiness of Windows 8 ecosystem coherency from the get go (i.e., on the day which Windows 8 will be available for the mass to use) by announcing that the company is releasing a brand new Xbox music service.  This brand new Xbox music service will only work on Windows 8 ecosystem (i.e., any device that is compatible to Windows 8 platform) and on Xbox 360 console.

What is exciting about this brand new Microsoft’s Xbox music service is that it allows anyone who has a device that is compatible to Windows 8 to be able to play music for free.  Actually, it’s rather a complete music service as in this service will allow people to listen to music for free or paid in Spotify manner (i.e., streaming music without ad interruption when paying $10 per month fee and vice versa), buy music to own in iTunes manner, and stream radio in Pandora manner.  In a way, Xbox music service will definitely be one of the very first guinea pigs for Microsoft to test out the effectiveness of Windows 8 ecosystem coherency.  If Xbox music service is going to fail to attract any popularity and usage, Microsoft will definitely be able to gauge the effectiveness of the Windows 8 ecosystem coherency.

Personally, I think Microsoft Xbox music service will definitely shake things up among the very market participants (e.g., Spotify, Amazon, Apple, Pandora, etc…).  With Windows 8 to be installed (replaced) Windows 7 on many computers and to become the fabric of the upcoming Windows 8 compatible devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, etc…), this sort of readily, powerful mojo is really going to give a very big boost to Xbox music service.  In turn, Xbox music service will attract many people to hurry up and get Windows 8 operating system onto their computers.  Furthermore, people who are with Windows 7 computers will go about in a hurry to have their computers upgrade to Windows 8 operating system.  This is one heck of a smart move from Microsoft!  Now, the only thing Microsoft needs is a really good marketing department to promote the super-coolness of Xbox music service on Windows 8 ecosystem.

By Announcing The Surface, Living Room Experience Warfare Builds Up Nicely For Microsoft! What Will Apple Do?

The web is buzzing about Microsoft’s newest tablet, and this one is special since Microsoft specifically made sure it would turn out the way it is now and how this one will carry Microsoft Windows 8 logo.  Instead of just worrying about the software that goes inside the newest Microsoft tablet known as Surface, the Surface itself had been molded and crafted by Microsoft to carry a kickback stand and a smart cover of which can unfold into a keyboard.  The cover/keyboard comes in many colors.

People are already comparing Microsoft’s Surface against iPad.  Personally, I have iPad 2 but I rarely use it.  How come?  iPad 2 feels like a bigger iPhone to me (but unable to make phone calls), and I’m already bored with the iOS ecosystem.  If there isn’t a Windows 8 for tablets and smart phones, I definitely won’t even think about being bored with iOS ecosystem.  Luckily, there is Windows 8 ecosystem, and so let the fun begin?  Personally, I think Windows 8 does look better on tablets and smart phones than any other mobile platform (i.e., Android, iOS).  Functionality though, I’m not sure since I have yet to own a Windows 8 device.

Microsoft has always had trouble in making an impact in the tablet market.  Instead of being hot, Microsoft had been a dinosaur since people like to think Microsoft as a giant software company for PC (i.e., not for mobile devices).  PC isn’t dead, and I think people who think PC is dead is too arrogant!!!  Nonetheless, mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones have definitely made Apple and Samsung (and few other well known mobile manufacturers) more relevant and wealthier than traditional PC makers.  If Microsoft delays to not thinking forward, the company’s image might become irrelevant and eventually the negative image will smear the company’s profitability.  After all, thinking forward in modern electronic warfare has to be about mobility, hence the tablets and smart phones.

This time around, I think Microsoft is really smart by pushing out its own tablet.  By making a super awesome tablet, whether it’s an iPad killer or not, Microsoft basically pushes the rears of the companies that are trying to produce tablets for Windows 8 against an avalanche.  They have to either come out better tablets than the Surface or else the tablet market will become evermore less competitive since the challengers against Apple would only be Microsoft and few other well known tablet makers.  As now though, with the Surface, I think only Microsoft can truly challenge Apple’s iPad, because the Surface is so sleek and thin even though it has a keyboard which can also turn into a removable tablet cover.  With that being said, I think other tablet makers will push harder to be even more impressive than the Surface.  What hope of killing iPad if they can’t even touch the Surface, right?  Microsoft probably knows this and doesn’t really care if other tablet makers can make better Windows 8 tablets, because Microsoft’s main goal is to grow the Windows 8 adoption!  Perhaps, the Surface is only a challenge for Windows 8 tablet makers, and this challenge can flood the tablet market with Windows 8 tablets.  Microsoft depends on the vibrant Windows 8 tablet market and not anything else!!!

How come I think the Surface can challenge iPad?  The video right after the break shows why… and I think… it’s all about the ingenuity of how Microsoft had incorporated the colorful keyboard/cover into a really sleek tablet and yet allowing the tablet to remain super thin.  Plus, the Surface looks really sleek (i.e., the hardware is thin and gorgeous).  Have I already mentioned how Windows 8 does look more fitting on a tablet than any other mobile platforms?  I think I did, but let me say this again, Windows 8 is probably more fashionable than other mobile platforms that favor a mesh of tiny app icon mess.

Microsoft announcement of Smartglass app few weeks ago was definitely a plus for the Surface!  Microsoft probably had envisioned that people will use the Surface in conjunction with Smartglass, therefore Smartglass app will tie the Surface into the ecosystem of Xbox 360 or Xbox upcoming iterations.  Microsoft’s not so hidden agenda is probably having the Surface in as many living rooms as possible, because it will accompany Xbox (e.g., 360, upcoming iterations).  This way, Microsoft will become evermore relevant than Apple would have like.  I think Apple should fear of how people may think whenever they need a tablet they need to have the Surface, because the Surface allows users to unifying their living room entertainment experience.  Xbox iterations will be the only go to set top boxes, and these Xbox machines can too play real hardcore games.  The Surface will use Smartglass app to enhance the set top box and game experiences.  Nonetheless, there is rumor out there that Apple is literally trying to produce something that may change the whole TV experience.  Perhaps, Apple is literally making a TV?  If Apple can do it, Microsoft won’t be the only one who will change the living room experience for the better!

What About Xbox Smartglass?

Just like you, I’m just hearing about Xbox Smartglass.  Microsoft promises to change how you watch your media, play video games, and surf the web evermore with Xbox Smartglass.  From watching the YouTube video which had been uploaded by YouTube user, WMPowerUser, it appears that Xbox Smartglass allows users to push media from a mobile device, whether that be an Android or iPhone or iPad or Windows Phone, onto the living room TV which connects to an Xbox 360.  This means you can watch whatever on your mobile device halfway and then push the media onto the TV which resides in your living room so you can finish watching or playing the rest of the media.  It’s unclear that users will be able to do this for movies and songs only, because if users can also push video games, web browsing materials, and much more from one device onto another using Xbox Smartglass, it will be truly awesome as users get to be evermore immersive with their media through the devices that they’ve already owned and loved.

The genius of Xbox Smartglass is a step beyond Kinect.  It does not require users to buy specific device to make it works, because Xbox Smartglass is an application which will be released by Microsoft for many popular devices that people might have already owned.  Nonetheless, the combination of Xbox Smartglass and Kinect is truly remarkable as it allows users to be able to use not only their mobile devices as the coolest remote controls but in conjunction with Kinect they can also rely on their other human sensors such as hand gesture and voice to fully satisfy how one would go about communicating with their media devices.  Xbox 360 combines Kinect and Smartglass to allow users to be able to surf the web on their TV like never before, because mobile devices will be able to control the web surfing activity on the TV and Kinect will allow users to use voice and gesture to navigate the web even further.  Obviously though, without Xbox 360 neatly dictates the wishes and wants from the mobile devices and the TVs, there won’t be the amazing feat of expanding the media experience.  Even the Kinect itself is just an accessory to Xbox 360.

Perhaps, the next generation of Xbox video game console might make the living room media experience even better than what we have seen so far with Xbox 360.  One thing though, I dislike how I’ve to pay an annual fee for Xbox Live so I can stream Netflix videos and other similar streaming contents.  After all, I’m already a Netflix subscriber, why would I want to go pay Microsoft for something that I already have a subscription to?  In fact, I can just hook my PC or PS3 to a TV and get to watch Netflix for free!  I think Xbox Live is a big mistake, because it’s something that might make users who do not like the idea of having too many annual fee this and that on the top of other monthly fees from various media services.  When adding all the monthly and annual fees up, users will see that each year their media pleasure might be rather expensive than they would have thought!!!  I think Microsoft might be able to convince more people to adopt Xbox 360 and future Xbox console iterations in the living room by letting go the Xbox Live annual fee.

Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition Update Patch Pack0.dzip Error For PC Version Corrupted Witcher 2 Launcher And Prevented Gamers From Updating Witcher 2

Update:  You might want to check out Solution To Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition Update Errors post which is more recent than this one and has a solution to your Witcher 2 enhanced edition update errors.

If you’re a fan and a PC gamer of Witcher 2, you probably had already tried to update the regular Witcher 2 to Witcher 2 enhanced edition for PC version.  Unfortunately, I’ve found out that there are many people included me who cannot successfully update Witcher 2 to Witcher 2 enhanced edition since there is this error known as pack0.dzip which complains that it’s corrupted.  I’ve looked everywhere on the web, hoping to find the solution to this very update error, but it seems that all the suggestions are for naught.  Manual patch through Witcher 2’s link here (http://en.thewitcher.com/ee_manual/) worked for some people, but many more people had found out that downloaded so called part 2 patch to replace the part 2 patch which came from the 10 GB+ Witcher 2 auto download enhanced edition patches came up with the same pack0.dzip error when one tried to update Witcher 2 to the enhanced edition.  I found this out myself too!  Not only the Witcher 2 enhanced edition patch had failed to update, it also had corrupted the Witcher 2 launcher.  People found this out as they could not relaunch their Witcher 2 game.  For me, I had to reinstall and tried the Witcher 2 enhanced patch again to see if I had any luck, but I found the same pack0.dzip error stared at me as if I was being mocked for the second time.  Licked my wound, I uninstalled Witcher 2 altogether.  I will not install Witcher 2 again and probably will not be able to make another video on Witcher 2 until Witcher 2 rolls out a patch that will allow me to update correctly.  I’m very disappointed of not being able to play Witcher 2 enhanced edition and my regular version for sometimes to come.  Sad face…

Witcher 2 Assassins Of Kings Game Play Part 02

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

Slow day for tech, but not for gaming in my case I guess.  Anyhow, I had recorded and posted game play part 02 for Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings to my YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/essayboard).  I think I had used the right encoder this time, therefore the picture for this video is quite gorgeous if you can stream it with 1080p quality (i.e., your Internet connection is capable of streaming high definition speed).  Anyhow, enjoy and stay tune for the third part…
