Vinh’s Photography Adventure Vlog Episode #01

I was visiting Cauble Park’s lake on December 15th of 2018 to play with Nikon Z6. Check out the video I made for this particular day right below. Enjoy!

Lily Camera Is A Futuristic Camera For Everyday People

I see drones!  Oops, I mean camera.  Check out a YouTube video which promotes a new type of camera known as Lily Camera in the bottom of this blog post.  Don’t forget to let me know how exciting you are about the technology in the comment section, OK?

This is not your typical camera in which you have to actively take snapshots and videos.  In fact, it’s not your typical camera at all, because you don’t even have to pay attention to what it is doing.  It seems the video suggests that Lily Camera will just automatically follow you around and take snapshots and videos as how you have instructed it to do so.  In fact, Lily Camera is a waterproof drone in which you throw it in the air and let it be free.  Free to follow you.  Free to take snapshots of you.  Free to take crazy video moments of you.

The specs for this camera/drone are 20 minutes flight time, 2 hours charge time, waterproof, video resolution of 1080p at 60 frames per second, video resolution of 720p at 120 frames per second, photo resolution of 12 Megapixels, front-facing camera, bottom-facing camera, and a whole lot more features such as GPS.

I think once you order this thing you also get a tracking device that you can wear on your wrist.  This is to control the camera/drone’s flight path and whatnot.  According to the article “Lily Camera Is A Drone That Automatically Follows You (link) on Buzzfeed.com, Lily Camera would also record the audio from the wrist’s tracking device so it can add the audio to the video which records by the drone’s cameras.

According to the Buzzfeed.com article that I just mentioned, this neat gadget will be released for the mass in February 2016 for $999, but you can pay for less, roughly around $499, if you are going to preorder Lily Camera now.

It’s cool to have Lily Camera follows you around and takes pictures and videos of you, but I’m worrying about the safety of this device for the owner and the bystanders.  Of course, I think the maker of Lily Camera is also looking at addressing all safety concerns in relation to this gadget before the release, and I do hope the maker of Lily Camera will address all safety issues before Lily Camera gets sold to the mass.

For an example, I’m worrying that something can go really wrong to the bystanders when the battery runs out completely while Lily Camera is still in flight.  Will the drone allot itself enough time to land before the battery would be completely drained?  Another worry of mine about Lily Camera is that you never know the drone can get glitchy and injure the owner’s hand as it lands badly onto the owner’s hand.  Of course, my concerns are not based on facts since nothing like what I have described has yet to occur.  I think Lily Camera is awesome, and I do hope that the maker of this gadget will be able to address all safety issues before the device goes phenomenal.

By the way, 20 minutes flight time is not long enough in my opinion.  I prefer to have a camera drone that is at least 3 hours or more flight time.  The longer the flight time, the better it is in my opinion.

My Sister Posing For Some Facebook Profile Photos

My Sister Posing For Some Facebook Profile Photos

My sister wanted some new photos for her Facebook profile.  We tried to use her point and shoot camera, but them photos turned out to be rather bad and dark.  Luckily I got my Nikon D3200 DSLR, and so her photos turned out to be stellar.  Unfortunately, I don’t own a flash yet, therefore I could only rely on the ambient light when taking her pictures.  Luckily I got Lightroom 4, and so I was able to manipulate the light within Lightroom 4 to my desire.  Anyhow, check her photos out if you want.  Enjoy!!!  You can also visit EndlessBit.com to enjoy all the photos that I took in the past!

Should Custom White Balance Be Unnecessary When Shooting In RAW?

When taking pictures with a DSLR camera, you can totally preset a white balance to give your pictures a uniquely distinctive look.  Nonetheless, with nowadays photo editing software on the rise, although the good ones such as Adobe Lightroom 4 are too expensive for many people, it’s totally possible to change the white balance of photos without using custom white balance (i.e., preset white balance).  Of course, you have to shoot photos in raw to have effectively change your white balance, because only in raw format you won’t lose important details when photos go under major change (i.e., major editing).  Still, I think I like the idea of taking great photos first before editing great photos after, because when great photos get to be edited — we can either enhance it even better or make it worse and the former which is definitely the goal.  So, by presetting or doing a custom white balance from the get go is definitely an ideal in my opinion.  Also, going through a custom white balance method at least once, one gets to know how white balance works a little better; this might help one improves post processing process in regarding to doing white balance in photo editing software.  This is why I don’t think it’s unnecessary to do custom white balance beforehand even though one shoots in raw format.  Anyhow, you should check out the YouTube video I found (i.e., not mine but I found on YouTube) as this video will be an excellent guide in regarding to doing custom white balance.  Enjoy!!!

Amazing Lumia 920 Camera Settings

I’ve just found out that you can actually change ISO, White Balance, Exposure Value, and other sophisticated settings on Lumia 920 camera.  This is new to me since I had not been able to do something like this on other smartphone cameras.  This level of smartphone camera sophistication in regarding to manual control of these settings is definitely rare in the world of smartphones.  Of course, if you use a DSLR camera, you have much more control in term of the camera sophistication level, and it’s to be expected like that for many DSLR cameras.  This is why it’s a big deal for me to find Lumia 920 actually has mimic some sophisticated camera settings from DSLR cameras.  Anyhow, check out the video right after the break to see me go into the details in regarding to how awesome it’s that Lumia 920 actually allows you to control how you take pictures/photos in a much more sophisticated way than the usual smartphone camera.  Enjoy!!!
