How I envision A Future War Would Be

Here is how I imagine a scenario of a huge war between two powerful countries or two united opposing forces in the near future.  In my scenario, a near future will be almost unthinkable if essential something isn’t automated and fully capable of self-regulating through Artificial Intelligence.  If two opposing forces are all automated and regulated by AI capabilities — how much collateral damage would there be on human civilians?  Is it just too dumb to allow a human soldier to be fighting against a more capable AI mechanized counterpart?

I imagine that two opposing forces would launch an all-out war with all the weapons they have in their arsenals.  Such weapons could be fully mechanized automated machines to fully automated electronic spy drones and such.  I also imagine that these two opposing forces would prefer not to use human soldiers for the most parts of the war.  Human soldiers would probably be on standby to evacuate the human civilians if there won’t be enough mechanized units that are still available in doing such a job.

As the war intensifies, each force would pray that their technology and AI automated weapons could outdo the other until either the enemy’s units and weapons run low or their own units got annihilated.  Once such an intense process runs through its course, the victor would aim their robotic units onto the enemy’s human civilian and non-civilian forces.  The losing side got almost no option at this point!  Either be a hero to fight to the death or surrender unconditionally.

Of course, I leave out the possibility that a nuclear war could be provoked.  How come?  I imagine that if such a war between two opposing forces could break out — it means nuclear weapons would probably be canceled out of the equation or rendered less capable somehow.  Perhaps, if such a war occurs between such two forces, it means either both sides have already somehow disabled each other nuclear weapons or one of these two forces is suicidal.

In conclusion, human soldiers may not be very useful in the future unless they’re going to be used as human spies to infiltrate the enemy’s human networks.  For the most parts of a futuristic war, fully automated AI mechanized units would be used to subdue the enemy or enemies.  A futuristic war could break out between two most powerful forces means nuclear weapons are no longer in the strategic calculation because these weapons either got disabled somehow or someone is on a suicidal mission.

Could AI Steal Jobs From Soldiers?

Isn’t it natural that soon Artificial Intelligence (AI) would steal jobs from soldiers?  We all know that AI had beaten best Chess and Go players at their games.  We also know that AI also had beaten best video gamers in video games.  This means the responsiveness and the intelligence parts of the AI could be used in war scenarios to outdo the human counterparts.

I won’t be surprised to see the future where many wars would deploy AI for automation of submarines, tanks, jets, missiles, and so much more.  The video right after the break suggests that China is developing fully automated submarines with AI capability to outdo foes’ submarines and surface ships in a war.

Could AI Teach You To Be Fluent In A Second Language?

So, Artificial Intelligence is being promoted as a technology which could help automate many things such as cars, airplanes, boats, bus, businesses, and so on.  Nonetheless, I’m hoping to see someone develops an AI app for personal uses such as helping one learns a second language!  Imagine how awesome it could be if an app is an AI which could teach you how to speak Chinese, German, or whatever language you wish to learn.  I imagine that this AI app could talk to you, correct you, and communicate with you until you become fluent in a foreign language!

Why stop there!  Imagine that someone could also develop an AI app to teach children math, physics, history and so much more.  I think AI could excel at promoting education.  With AI I think children could learn more efficiently and the schools may be able to free up school resources for other important agenda.  Of course, you never know that AI could eventually transform the role of a school into either something else entirely or the school could cease to exist altogether.  If your children and adult friends could learn just about anything through the AI interaction — why bother wasting resources in funding a school?

Can The Universe Itself Be A Smart AI According To Some Higher Being’s Design?

In the last blog post “Can Our Universe Expand Forever Or Expand Then Contract Later Just So It Could Die?” I surmised that the universe (our universe among many others) could have been expanding and contracting according to how it got fed with external energy — where such force would have to wander outside our very own singularity.  Without such external nursery of energy, I surmised that our universe is like a quantifiable fish aquarium.  Nonetheless, we all know that even a human being could be intelligibly randomized things at will — thus I think according to the universe we’re sentient beings are the AI (artificial intelligent).  How about let me surmise some more and say that — what if the universe itself is a higher artificial intelligent force in which it could randomize things at will to expand and contract according to circumstances?

We human beings could only see the results of why the universe is expanding and contracting according to our very own whatever theories — but why would the universe do such a thing?  What’s the point of expanding or contracting?  Expanding to create more empty space for what?  Contracting is like a suicidal attempt of killing itself off so the existence of the universe itself would cease to exist.  Furthermore, perhaps the universe itself is like a smart TV or fishbowl/aquarium in which it was designed by a higher being.  This way the purpose of expanding and contracting won’t be the burden with which the universe has to carry.  This burden could be carried by the designer of the universe.

At this point, I think it’s more like a philosophical thinking than anything concrete on this matter, but it’s so intriguing nonetheless.  In my opinion, philosophical or not, it’s rather important for us sentient beings to dig deeper into our origin.  After all, if we could not remember how we’d come into being, then we would forever aimlessly forget about our root and forever lost — wandering in a dark forest (Three Body Problem’s sci-fi trilogy second book is also titled as The Dark Forest).  I think only when we could figure out our true root of how we’d come into the existence, it is then that we could evolve to be something greater.  Perhaps in such a quest, we could discover new technology to bring us to new heights; we could grow into even more capable and intelligent sentient beings.

Science Fiction Time: Marrying Matrix and Three Body To Let Humans Live Forever!

Science fiction captures us in a state of dreams because it’s something we want but cannot get.  So instead of giving up all hopes, we want to imagine up the possibilities even though some science fiction kinds of stuff would be forever suspended in our imagination.  We also like to dream up many far-fetched scenarios that may or may not be possible in the near future when we would be long gone.  It’s for the future generation we hope because we dream about it now.

With such a spirit, let me steal some ideas from the Matrix and some ideas from Three Body series so I could marry these ideas up to form something really out of this world.  If you have watched the Matrix series, you know that in this world it’s possible for humans to quickly digest digital information directly from machine to the brain as a brain got a connection which can siphon learned digital materials from machines.  If you have read or listened to books in Three Body series, you know that hibernation is a thing!  So why don’t we marry the Matrix’s brain-machine connection with hibernation?

Imagine this, you may want to upload a copy of your brain into a machine or a robot, and allow this robot to live as you in the real world while you hibernate away.  Let’s say you automate your hibernate chamber to wake you up every 100 years so you could come out and play and get some sunshine before you go back to your centennial sleep.  When you wake up, the new era would be way smarter and more advanced than you, and so you would allow the robot that had lived for 100 years in your place to upload the experience of 100 years into your brain so you could catch up with the time in seconds and minutes.

Furthermore, you could direct your robo-self to invest and make money while you’re hibernating away.  This way, when you wake up 100 years later you could be wealthier.  Of course, if your robo-self got a buggy program, you could be poorer instead.  It’s a jungle out there while you’re sleeping into the future, and so I guess you could never expect to be 100% sure that you could be a billionaire when you wake up right?  Regardless, at least you know you could be a lot smarter when you wake up since you could learn all the mistakes and successes from the experiences that the robot uploads to your brain.

Let’s say you only want to play in the sun for 10 days each time you wake up, and the math could continue on to let you sleep and wake, play and then sleep again — almost as if forever young into the future.  Each time you wake up you only waste 10 days of your life, but the future medical care is so advanced that you would be 100% free from diseases.  Well, unless the future is going to regress into a new dark age, you would probably be fine!  So, you would set your sleeping chamber to wake you up whenever a new century arrives so you could come out to play in the sun and absorb all the experiences from the robot.  Oh, your robot probably upgrades itself as time progresses, and so you don’t have to upgrade your robot when you’re awake!

You get the idea, this setup could let you live for a very long time into the future.  If such things ever escape science-fiction and come to play in reality realm, we could say humans almost achieve immortality.  Humans could then wake up from a dream each time to witness a newer century.  Perhaps, the earth itself would cease to be hospitable and the sun would cease to shine and yet humans could still sleeping away in a coffin just to be woken up in a newer century!

Will AI Be Used In Dealmaking Soon?

In the very near future, when Artificial Intelligence is more capable, will governments around the world readily deploy AI to do things such as drafting a free trade agreement?  As I’m watching the news clip on YouTube, and this person states that an FTA between two parties is going to take a very long time, possibly years, to complete since complex deals could be involved with complex, new technology and so forth.  This is true as we’re human and it takes time for us humans to digest and make sense of things before we could readily draw upon an agreement of something.  For AI though, things could be fast-track in milliseconds, I assume.

I guess when such a time comes, whichever country has a more advanced AI could get an upper hand in an FTA deal, assuming that each country won’t be able to replicate the other country’s AI tech.  Obviously, if a country’s technology is so easily being stolen, then their future AI tech is not going to be able to be kept as a secret.  What’s worse is that a competitor could replicate and improve on the tech to leave the original creator in the dust.  As the former dilly-dally without any progress, the latter may also be able to figure out the flaws within the former’s AI tech, allowing the latter to exploit the flaw to squeeze out an advance in a deal such as an FTA deal between two trading countries.

Let’s humor ourselves and imagine how a scenario would unfold when a country without AI tech is engaging in a fictitious FTA deal with a country that got a really advanced AI tech.  Obviously, no AI secrets would be included in the deal!  I suppose the country without AI tech would look at the FTA draft that they’d taken years to mold without any confidence when they propose the terms in the FTA meeting with the counterpart that got an advanced AI tech as the assistant in the dealmaking.  Meanwhile, the side with advanced AI assistant would probably have already made a decision on how to negotiate the terms beyond the first draft that the side without advanced AI assistant is proposing.

I think the side without advanced AI assistant would probably be even more cautious in coming to an agreement with the terms that are being proposed by the side with an advanced AI assistant, knowing that the advanced AI assistant would probably have given better advice to the owner of the AI assistant.  Perhaps, the side with advanced AI assistant could use the AI to come up with terms that are so subtle that allow the counterpart to not being able to see the true meaning of being taken advantages of.  Would this allow the FTA deal to fast-track in real time?
