Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Speech Encourages More Globalization in Davos’s WEF 2017

In a time when there are forces within various countries calling for more protectionism, China’s president Xi Jinping addresses the World Economic Forum in Davos for the very first time to encourage for even more globalization.  Mr. Xi Jinping describes protectionism is like locking oneself in a dark room where wind and rain may be kept out, but light and air are also going to be kept out.  Since China has had success with opening up to the world since China joined WTO (World Trade Organization), and so China sees that opening up is a good thing.  Of course, Mr. Xi Jinping also recognizes globalization is also a double edge sword, because in an optimistic world globalization can boost trade and profits, but in a pessimistic world globalization can cut off trades and market accesses.  Anyhow, Mr. Xi Jinping is the first Chinese president to address WEF in Davos, and his detailed speech is in the video right after the break.  Enjoy!
