Before of what came before, doctors weren’t able to treat patients who had organ failures. Before of now, doctors transplanted their patients with donors’ organs. Now, scientists and researchers are confirming that we may one day see old organs make new again.
The positive affirmation from the scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on the amazing success of cultivating old rat livers to make newer ones is very exciting. These scientists have renewed old rat livers by culturing old rat livers’ structures with healthier rat liver cells. Unfortunately, the new rat livers that built from the old ones had functioned in live rats no longer than eight hours.
The goal for this science is an obvious one, it’s to create a whole new organ from an old one that could last a life time. Making old organs new again is only at an experimentation phase, it will take many more years before us humans even know that the feat is feasible. Even at the rat testing phase, scientists are finding it hard to fully revitalize a rat liver that could last beyond eight hours outside a culture.
