The question that has always been raised by security folks, how much security do we need? Some wonder do we need all you can eat security buffet, or do we really? Privacy is so important to some people, but isn’t it too much privacy will hamper national security? I think we need a balancing act here! Yes, we do need security, a lot of these, especially we are in a digital age that resembles like a minefield, one wrong step one takes, one may as well seeing one’s identity going kaboom! A balancing act… Too much eyes in the sky, too many eagle eyes surveying us all, suddenly everything becomes way too uncomfortable! A balancing act… The methods we take to secure whatever, it must be a balancing act, and hopefully the method isn’t encouraging the behavior of obsessive — that’s, the obsession for power, total control, robotic behavioral mannerisms, etc…
What’s with the rant? According to a piece on Engadget which reflects on a piece of WSJ, big brother is deploying spy technology in our everyday gadgets and computers to make sure everyone of us is a perfect citizen. OK, this sounds a lot of fun for those who are working for the government, but it sure doesn’t sound exciting to the criminals. It’s somewhat a mix emotion for a good citizen like you and me. A balancing act… I’m thinking of if a hacker, a super one, can crack the control of this type of spy technology [citizen spies], a dirty mind hacker may indeed has the ability to stalk just about anyone through gadgets’ eyes such as camera and etc… Hopefully, only a dirty hacker can do that, a more potent and psychotic one may wreck a whole lot more than one can imagine.
For the die hard security folks who prefer nothing but security — even if the prices of privacy and freedom are no longer free, this new development may be a nirvana. I say we need a balancing act… How to go about it? I’m not smart enough to suggest one, you know one? Source: Perfect Citizen: secret NSA surveillance program revealed by WSJ
