Considering the competitive atmosphere of ebook market of today, Amazon knows that it has to be flexible even though its Kindle is still leading in ebook sales, and so Amazon is announcing that by next month it will release Kindle for PC application. Windows users will be able to download Kindle for PC free of charge. By using Whispersync technology, Amazon’s Kindle for PC can sync with Kindle. This allows Kindle’s users to pick right up where they have left of their readings from Kindle to Kindle for PC.
It seems that Amazon releases this news to counter the excitement of Barnes & Noble’s new Nook device and Barnes & Noble’s ebook store. Will this be an effective strategy for Amazon against Barnes & Noble is remain to be seen. One thing for sure is that Barnes & Noble’s ebook store allows any device that is supporting .epub extension (EPUB format) to be able to read Barnes & Noble’s ebooks. This Barnes & Noble’s model for selling ebooks is worrying Amazon’s bottom line, and so it seems Amazon is forcefully releasing the news that it’s working on to release Kindle for PC for FREE.
A harsh competition among companies in any industry is a sign for a healthy market for consumers in terms of price and availability!
