A bank that has no relation with you can actually go about to have your email address terminated. How? Here is a real example for you, a bank in Wyo. known as Rocky Mountain Bank sent sensitive information included social security numbers of about 1300 customers to a wrong Gmail email address, and in fear of impending wrongdoings the bank requested a judge to shut down the mistaken email address and asked the judge to order Google to reveal the email account holder’s name and information. The judge went along with the request and had Google agreed by terminating the mistaken email address, and the email account holder’s information was revealed.
The problem of this case is that the bank was the one with error, but it got its ways anyway. This means in the future, if anyone else, you or me get an email from a bank, and a bank thinks that you have its sensitive information, you or me can say goodbye to our email account. Maybe you are doing online banking with another bank with that same email account, but that’s just too bad since another bank had your email address terminated.
