PS3 Sees More Contents To Drive Sales

The bad economy doesn’t help Sony sells it PS3.  Although with a Blu-ray capability that allows an advantage over Xbox 360 and Wii, PS3 sales only pickup slowly.  The people that are heading the PS3 department think that to boost sales of PS3, they need to attract the market with more contents, and this means not only making more games, they have to create other types of contents in abundance.

Some people predict that a much anticipated game Final Fantasy XIII that will come out soon on PS3 will be able to help boost even more sales in term of PS3 consoles.  Sony knows that when gamers shell out $300 or more for a game console, this means they’re hook and ready to spend more money for more games.  Unfortunately, this concept has not been kind to Sony’s PS3.

The game market is profitable, but as of late there are way too many ways for people to get their fun.  In the old day where only a few websites here and there that were addictive, mobile phones didn’t carry any good game, movies and videos weren’t streaming, and so video games were easier to be addictive.  Now a day, only if you are truly hardcore for console video games, otherwise you have YouTube, Hulu, Joost, FaceBook, Miro, Twitter, World of Warcraft, dozen of free browser games, countless online board games, mobile phones have good games, and much more.  Though the entertainment factor is compounding for this reason, it is too saturated, and so console video gaming is just another competitive player.

PS3 is great in many ways when comparing against other video game consoles, but it’s not just the right period for Sony’s game division to make money on video games and its PS3 consoles.  A game changer will have to be a next generation of game console for Sony?  What do you think?
