Yahoo Gives Up Search Engine War
Critics think Yahoo has made a big mistake by disbanding their search department, handling its search technology over to Microsoft. Yahoo’s CEOs think that this move allows them to concentrate on other areas better by blissfully discarding their usual search complex. Critics say when Microsoft gets Yahoo’s search technology, the company will gain huge search market share that accounts for about half of Google’s search market share. What do you think?
Search technology is so important in the Internet age since the Internet relies on search technology to help everyone navigates the massive web. Students research on the Internet for their school’s projects use search engines to shorten the research time. Everyday people buy products online use search engines to search for product reviews for comparisons. Basically you can search just about anything that can be found on the Internet through search engines. Search engines are forever important to the Internet as long the Internet is alive.
Why Yahoo’s decision of relinquishing its search technology and handling that to Microsoft is important to you? This means the quality of search technology can progress further or regress — depending on how Microsoft plays its part in search technology from now on. When Microsoft makes enough improvements in its search technology and search market share, Google will see that as a huge danger to their business. This means a bigger search war will be waged, or you can say it’s a competition that can only get hotter. The stronger the competition, the end winner will eventually be the winner of the search technology war, but the biggest winner of all has to be the everyday folks. In the end, search engine is FREE, and everyday people get to see better search results when they search the Internet.
